The article reminds us that this also has to do with Russia\u2019s backing separatists in Ukraine, annexing Crimea in 2014, and bolstering Assad in Syria.<\/p>\n

The real question is this: is the US going to do the diplomatic thing, and invoke the Monroe Doctrine (which Russia ignores), or is this going somewhere else?<\/p>\n

Despite Vlad Putin\u2019s bully pulpit tactics, he doesn\u2019t have the military might that China has. That\u2019s blatantly obvious even to a mere bystander like me, on the outside looking in, and I don’t think he really wants a shooting war. He wants money.
