An Irish airline pilot and another from a different airline, plus two pilots from Virgin Airlines reported a high-speed light off the Irish coast in 2018, all reporting that it turned right and\u00a0 moved off twice the speed of sound, which is within the capabilities of military jets. Experimental aircraft are known to be able to fly at 10 times the speed of sound, or 6,000 MPH. The top speed for the SR-71 Blackbird was 2.193MPH.<\/p>\n

Following that, and with the continuing appearances of odd-looking aircraft flying near US military basis and aircraft, especially fighter jets during at-sea aerial exercises, the Navy has reopened the reporting system to all observers, with no more consequences to it. \u00a0\u00a0https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2019\/04\/23\/us-navy-guidelines-reporting-ufos-1375290<\/a><\/p>\n

Since the military sightings are accompanied by the plane’s gun camera videos, which locate, target and track these flying objects, and they are recorded in other than visible light spectrum (e.g., infrared), they aren\u2019t exactly just \u2018I saw something weird\u2019 reports. It\u2019s not that the sightings haven\u2019t been reported. The Navy just shut the thing down in 2012, but they\u2019ve had so many reports since then that they decided that a) they have to go on collecting date, and b) there\u2019s probably no point in keeping it classified any more. Some previous reports were dumped because they were moving too fast to be missiles and didn’t fit the profile.<\/p>\n

Having read a great deal of stuff about UFOs by some serious researchers (and some nutballs, too), I find that the one thing being ignored is the possibility that they are not mechanical, but rather, may be biological.\u00a0 The peregrine falcon can fly at 242 mph, \u00a0dive at 200 MPH and come to a halt on a dime, or pull out like there is no gravity at all. The male goldfinch chasing another male over nesting rights moves at high speed (36MPH) and can make a 90\u00b0 turn, cornering like he\u2019s on rails, simply by fanning out his tailfeathers. They evolved this way.<\/p>\n

And despite what the author says in Politico, the Russians don\u2019t have anything close to our stuff unless they stole it, and neither do the Chinese.\u00a0 We\u2019re still ahead of them, aren’t we?<\/p>\n

After all, we didn’t know about sprites and jets, which are electrical discharges from the Earth during severe storms, until the astronauts recorded them from the International Space Station. Nor did we know that Jupiter’s atmosphere regularly discharges lightning until Voyager recorded it as radio transmissions.<\/p>\n

There’s a huge lot of stuff we still don’t know about this planet, but we want to go to Mars and investigate Marsquakes that have finally been recorded. Well, while we at it, let’s solve this UFO problem – is it mechanical or organic?
