Jurors acquit shooter<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nCOEUR d\u2019ALENE \u2014 A 27-year-old Athol man who claimed he acted in self-defense when he shot another man multiple times at a Coeur d\u2019Alene apartment complex was aquitted Wednesday by a jury.<\/p>\n

Jurors in the two-day trial in Coeur d\u2019Alene\u2019s First District Court deliberated 90 minutes before returning a not guilty verdict for Keven C. Custer, who was on trial for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe jury found Keven Custer not guilty because they determined that Keven had a reasonable fear of death or great bodily harm,\u201d said Custer\u2019s attorney, Joseph Sullivan, on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Custer was accused of shooting 46-year-old Chris Gunderson Oct. 4 with a 9 mm he carried in a hip holster while lying on the ground after being struck by Gunderson. The blow knocked out one of Custer\u2019s teeth, and cracked two others.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Salem man acquitted in 2016 fatal shooting of a homeless man near Wallace Marine Park<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA Salem man was found not guilty Thursday of manslaughter, weapons and criminally negligent homicide charges for shooting a homeless man near Wallace Marine Park in 2016. <\/p>\n

Attorneys for Christopher Gerberding, 34, argued he’d been defending himself the night he shot Manuel Zavala, 30, of Salem, claiming he’d been confronted, punched and escorted out of the park by a group of homeless people.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors said Gerberding negligently killed Zavala and was too drunk at the time to assess how much of a threat he was.<\/p>\n

Following a three-day bench trial, Polk County Judge Monte Campbell reviewed evidence, interviews and the defense’s and prosecutor’s arguments before delivering his verdict \u2014 acquitted on all charges. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Fort Knox sergeant charged in road rage case will not be indicted by a grand jury<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) \u2013 The Fort Knox sergeant who was charged in a road rage incident will not be indicted by a grand jury.<\/p>\n

Both sides of the case concerning Kai Waters, 33, were presented in a Hardin County courtroom Thursday.<\/p>\n

Waters was charged in February after she said she stabbed another woman in the leg. The interaction was all caught on surveillance video from the gas station where the altercation took place.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d have been surprised if she was indicted once the grand jury saw the video,\u201d Waters\u2019 attorney, Jeremy Aldridge, told WAVE 3 News on Thursday. \u201cOnce the grand jury (saw) everything, I felt pretty confident that they would come back with a no-true bill.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Good news today, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, SGT Kai Waters, will not be indicted by a grand jury for her part in the road rage incident she became involved in. Today’s totals, while belated due to the legal process, are one down and not getting back up, and two receiving medical attention for their troubles. <\/p>\n
