Now, it is spreading.<\/p>\n

This is back in the news, now on the front page of my morning fishwrap, but it is an article done without an opinionated slant to it. Coming originally from the Trib, something must be stirring their pots<\/p>\n

From Reuters: A rapidly growing number of counties in at least four states are declaring themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries, refusing to enforce gun-control laws that they consider to be infringements on the U.S. constitutional right to keep and bear arms.\u00a0 https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-usa-guns-sanctuary\/defiant-us-sheriffs-push-gun-sanctuaries-imitating-liberals-on-immigration-idUSKCN1QL0ZC<\/a><\/p>\n

The video embedded in the Reuters article is one of several on that file, and the sheriff’s remarks are followed by something about pigs.<\/p>\n

The conservative side of this fence has “borrowed” the popular libidiot term “sanctuary” to define which counties are welcoming to gun owners and will work to ensure protection of their 2nd amendment rights. Even some “rogue” sheriffs in various states are giving this a nod because they feel that they have enough to do without having to stop and search people’s cars for guns. They might ask for your FOID\/CCW if you get stopped for something else, because that will pop up on the terminals in police\/sheriff cars, but unless you misbehave, they aren’t going to pull you over to find out if you have a gun, licensed or otherwise.<\/p>\n

The movement started in Iroquois and Effingham counties last year, with 24 other counties joining Effingham for a total of 26.\u00a0 https:\/\/bearingarms.com\/tom-k\/2019\/02\/25\/illinois-seeks-block-second-amendment-sanctuary-counties\/<\/a><\/p>\n

What has transpired since July 2018 is that the counties now following Iroquois and Effingham total 61 out of 102 – a majority in the state, with counties in three other states enacting their own sanctuary status and nine more states in which counties are considering adopting the same status.<\/p>\n

There is, of course, a pushback by the leftreds, to block this as an illegal move, but so far, it doesn’t appear to have gone anywhere or to have any effect. And you have to start asking when crime in cities like Chicago is so rampant, why is there so much objection to people using something to defend themselves. The cops are NOT going to defend you. They’ll just call an ambulance to cart you off to the ER.<\/p>\n

This is not over yet. Effingham looks better and better as a place to retire to, if you don’t mind traveling a bit of a distance to Lake Shelbyville to fish. I hear the bass, bluegills and crappies are quite good there.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
