You can be at the mall, at the restaurant, in the middle of the street,” said Major Todd Wieck, Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office.

The second is, the Castle Doctrine, which protects the use of deadly force when a person acts in self-defense in his or her home, business or car.

Tuesday morning’s shooting incident in Sioux City where a 19-year-old man broke into a house and was shot and killed by the home’s owner, could fall under the protection of the Castle Doctrine.

“With this particular case that’s ongoing with the city, the Castle Doctrine would actually apply because the incident took place inside the residence. The gentleman that owned the house, used force to protect himself and his home,” said Wieck.

1 / 0 / 0
Thank you Major Obvious, no flies on you.
