Police: Man dies of gunshot wounds after Sioux City home invasion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

SIOUX CITY — The owner of a home on \nSioux City’s north side fatally shot a man after he broke into the \nresidence Tuesday morning, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\n home invasion and shooting occurred minutes after the unidentified \nintruder had jumped out of a second-floor window of a nearby home at \n1216 25th St. Cut by the broken glass and leaving a blood trail, he ran \nthrough alleys, and then broke into the home at 1321 24th St. at about \n8:30 a.m., police Det. John Sanders said. The intruder reportedly \nstruggled with a male homeowner, who was armed with a gun to protect \nhimself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“A shot was fired during the struggle … The homeowner shot the suspect who broke into the house,” Sanders said at a news conference at police headquarters Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Texas home invasion suspect shot dead by homeowner’s son: reports<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A suspected home intruder<\/a> was fatally shot in the head in Houston on Tuesday while trying to escape with two other culprits, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shortly after arriving at his southwest Houston home, a father was pistol-whipped by three suspects who had forced him to open the door, police said. The father\u2019s two daughters managed to hide in the closet and hit a panic alarm. The girls were eventually found and the suspects continued ransacking the home, First Coast News reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the father\u2019s wife and son arrived home, the suspects fled, the report said. As they were fleeing, the son retrieved a gun and shot one of the suspects in the head, reports said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burlington mother uses gun to defend 10-year-old son, home against burglar<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

BURLINGTON, N.C. (WTVD) — A woman shot at and scared off a man who was trying to steal from her Burlington home Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Burlington Police Department, the crime happened before 4 a.m. at a home on Everette Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The woman, a 31-year-old mother, said she and her 10-year-old son were asleep when the burglary began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The woman said she woke up to noises in her kitchen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When she went downstairs she saw a man in his early to mid-20s, wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt, had broken through her kitchen window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The burglar pointed a semi-automatic pistol at her and opened fire. That’s when she returned fire and the burglar started retreating out of the house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The woman nor her son were injured in the attempted burglary; she will not face charges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
