The folks at Military Phony<\/a> sent us their work on Butch Skidmore<\/a>, whose real name is Ellsworth Dewey Skidmore III.<\/p>\n

In an article in the Washington Times by S.A. Miller<\/a> titled “\u201cVoters in 2020 battleground state struggle to excuse Trump\u2019s hiring of illegal immigrants<\/strong><\/a>,” it states that Butch is a former Navy SEAL.<\/p>\n

Not sure why the political point he was making was prefaced by the statement that he was a former Navy SEAL, but it really didn’t have much to do with the article other than underscoring that the bar was Republican.<\/p>\n

Since this was carried as an Associated Press article, it reached many newspapers.<\/p>\n

After folks contacted the stolen valor community, it was looked into.<\/p>\n

Butch was not in the BUD\/S-SEAL database and a quick check of SCRA\/DoD Manpower revealed…<\/p>\n

After Skidmore’s military records were ordered from the Department of the Navy, they showed…<\/p>\n

So it appears that Butch dipped his toe into the US Navy service waters by completing 29 days of boot camp, but did not manage to cram in BUD\/S and other SEAL training during his brief stint.<\/p>\n

Assuming Butch never saw the article to ask for a correction, we felt like a lot of people may be under the impression that he was a Navy SEAL.\u00a0 We just wanted to help him out to clear up the fact that Butch Skidmore was NOT a Navy SEAL.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
