Ryan Michael Piatchek, 27, St. Louis, was arrested at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in Mtn. View on a Montgomery County charge of violation of the Stolen Valor Act regarding use of veteran title, first offense, and is held on $1,000 bail. The Mtn. View Police Department was the arresting agency.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I found this to be an interesting case in that this individual was charged with stolen valor.\u00a0 The state of Missouri seems to take stolen valor very seriously, with their Stolen Valor Act of 2007<\/a>.\u00a0 The first crime is a misdemeanor and the second, a felony.<\/p>\n

I also found it interesting that the police were able to charge him on the spot.\u00a0 How did they know he was not a veteran if he did not admit that to them?<\/p>\n

The DoD Manpower \/ SCRA database was searched for all possible years including the present.\u00a0 All results were negative and the below search represented the highest probability since Piatchek was born in 1991.<\/p>\n
