Jackson DA determines man’s death in 2018 shooting was self-defense<\/strong><\/p>\n by WLOS STAFF District Attorney Welch has completed a review of the complete investigative file and has determined that no criminal charges will result from the death of 52-year-old William David Griffis, calling the shooting self defense, and an example of the “castle doctrine.”<\/p>\n The release states that Griffis had illegally and forcibly broken into a home while making threats to a woman with whom he had once been in a relationship.
