District Attorney General not filing charges against stabbing victim who shot, killed Memphis man<\/strong><\/p>\n MEMPHIS, Tenn – The man who shot and killed another man in a Memphis neighborhood will not be facing charges in connection with the incident, according to officials.<\/p>\n The incident happened on March 17 in the 7100 block of Peppermill Lane. <\/p>\n Deputies said Jamarquis Hamilton, 29, was shot and killed by another man after Hamilton stabbed him. <\/p>\n Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other man \u2013 who was not identified \u2013 was taken to the hospital and survived his injuries.<\/p>\n The DA\u2019s office said they declined to file charges against the man because they determined that his actions were in self-defense.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 1 \/ 0 \/ 0 Waffle House employee disarms, drives off armed robber<\/strong><\/p>\n By Wesley S. Muller The attempted armed robbery occurred in a Waffle House located at 4601 Old Gentilly Road. A man entered the restaurant at about 5 a.m., handed the cashier a note demanding money and brandished a black revolver with brown grip plates, according to a NOPD news release.<\/p>\n The cashier disarmed the gunman, forcibly taking the pistol from him and driving him away. The suspect fled the restaurant on foot, with neither gun nor loot.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 0 \/ 0 \/ 1 Man turns the tables on pair of crooks trying to invade his home<\/strong><\/p>\n By Parker Branton “I felt like if I was to die right there, they would kill my grandmother and great-grandmother, Lord forbid — God forbid,” Pherrick Thomas said. <\/p>\n Thomas told Local 10 News that someone knocked on his back door at 2 a.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n He said he opened the door to find a woman he knew standing there, Georicka Mathes, 23. Soon after, he was greeted with a gun by another man, later identfied by police as Marquan Humphrey, 26. <\/p>\n “We were talking for a second, because it’s 2 in the morning, I’m trying to catch up, and the next thing you know a man with a rifle ran up talking about, ‘Give me everything,'” Thomas said. <\/p>\n A struggle unfolded at the home on Northwest 85th Street, where Thomas lives with his grandmother and great-grandmother. <\/p>\n The two elderly women tried to defend themselves from the man and woman invading their home. <\/p>\n Thomas said his grandmother fought back with a brick while he took the man’s gun.<\/p>\n “I turned the rifle around just in time,” he said. “I had enough strength from seeing them hit my grandmother to actually shoot the man.”<\/p>\n Thomas said an officer patrolling around the corner heard the shots and responded immediately. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n 0 \/ 2 \/ 0 A 1 \/ 2 \/ 1 sort of day, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes.
