A nice segue from Dave’s Post- in late February, the Maryland House Judiciary Committee was about to debate some additional onerous gun control legislation, when several citizens of The Free State (no- really. PDRofMD’s State Motto) exercised their First Amendment Rights to protect their Second Amendment Rights. Such an act of protected speech was immediately recognized and acknowledged by our elected leaders in Annapolis, right?<\/p>\n
Y’all know better.<\/p>\n
In late February, the Maryland House Judiciary Committee was set to debate some additional gun control measures and various gun rights supporters showed up wearing shirts bearing the message, \u201cWe Will Not Comply.\u201d This display of civil disobedience prompted Party Secretary Robbie Leonard to take to social media and respond with some free speech of his own. His, however, was a bit less restrained. <\/p>\n
According to a local news source, Leonard posted to Facebook, \u201cI hope the FBI runs the name of every witness who is wearing a t-shirt that says \u2018We Will Not Comply.\u2019 They\u2019re a bunch of terrorists in the making.\u201d In another missive, Leonard posted photos from the hearing along with the message \u201cTime to dox some homegrown terrorists.\u201d <\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The term \u201cdoxing\u201d is a tactic when a private person’s identifying information is made publicly available with the intent to harass and intimidate. The next step is “swatting” where a bogus emergency call is made to the local police, initiating a response and investigation on the unfortunate victim. All of this is quite illegal<\/a>, as one may imagine. <\/p>\n
