Two senators introduced legislation Thursday that would create a Green Alert public notification system to find veterans when they go missing.<\/p>\n

Sens. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., and Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, sponsored The Green Alert Act of 2019. They said the system would be similar to the Amber Alert system for missing children or the Silver Alert system to locate senior citizens, especially ones with Alzheimer\u2019s disease or dementia.<\/p>\n

Many veterans go missing because of stress and trauma associated with their military service, said Ernst, who is an Iraq War veteran who served for more than 20 years in the Army Reserve and Army National Guard.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That’s what we need to spend millions on, “Milk Cartons for Veterans”.\u00a0 There is something that makes my ass itch every time I read about these kinds of programs.\u00a0 All us poor veterans are victims of our service to this country.\u00a0 When I get full-blown dementia and revert to acting like a child does this mean they can issue a Silver\u00a0Amber Green alert?<\/p>\n
