(AP photo by Steve Helber)

Virginia Governor Northam still plans to hold onto his office. But, if he decides to step down, Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax would step up to be governor. Others here have pointed to his politics as an indicator of what he might be like as a governor.

However, Mr. Fairfax appears to be having his own personal “Kavanaugh” moment. A woman came forward to accuse him of sexual assault.

From Fox News:

“Imagine you were sexually assaulted during the DNC Convention in Boston in 2004 by a campaign staffer. You spend the next 13 years trying to forget it ever happened. Until one day you find out he’s the Democratic candidate for statewide office in a state some 3000 miles away, and he wins that election in November 2017,” a post from the reported accuser said, according to the blog. “Then, by strange, horrible luck, it seems increasingly likely that he’ll get a VERY BIG promotion.

Sound familiar?

A woman gets sexually assaulted, but tries to forget it happened. Then, their “assaulter” ends up poised for an important government position. She comes forward so that her experiences could be weighed by those considering the assaulter for a specific office.

Judge Roy Moore, and later then Judge Kavanaugh, had women come forward with accusations. The mainstream media went into overdrive, highlighting these women’s victimization. Then, the holes to their claims become visible, with the opposition advancing evidence… Like a fake signature, or witnesses claiming that the event didn’t happen. Still, the mainstream media pushed forward providing these women with tailwinds.

There were even calls that we should simply believe the women. According to Mr. Fairfax, the accuser approached a publication.

From his twitter:

This person reported to be making this false allegation first approached the Washington Post-one of the nation’s most prominent newspapers…The Post carefully investigated the claim for several months. After being presented with facts consistent with the Lt. Governor’s denial of the allegation, the absence of any evidence corroborating the allegation, and significant red flags and inconsistencies within the allegation, the Post made the considered decision not to publish the story.

Tellingly, not one other reputable media outlet has seen fit to air this false claim.

Do a Google search using “Washington Post Kavanaugh” and look at the results that pop up. If this is the same Washington Post, then using their actions, or non action, doesn’t build his credibility.

Absent any additional information, we could give the Lieutenant Governor the same benefit of the doubt that we gave others in the same situation… Unless evidence later pops up that substantiates the accusation.

But, one of the things that we can look at is the action of the media when it comes to who the accused is.

You can read more on Fox News, Big League Politics, and on the Lieutenant Governor’s twitter:

pic.twitter.com/qTeHfz7Idi

— Justin Fairfax (@LGJustinFairfax) February 4, 2019

Virginia Governor Northam still plans to hold onto his office.
