President Trump called out Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) on Monday evening.<\/p>\n

President Trump attacked\u00a0Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., on Twitter Monday night, mockingly referring to him as\u00a0“Da Nang Dick”\u00a0and questioning his fitness to serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee in the wake of decade-old allegations of stolen valor related to Blumenthal’s false claim that he fought in the Vietnam War.<\/p>\n

“How does Da Nang Dick (Blumenthal) serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee when he defrauded the American people about his so called War Hero status in Vietnam, only to later admit, with tears pouring down his face, that he was never in Vietnam,” wrote Trump, who added that Blumenthal was, “An embarrassment to our Country!”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Blumenthal frequently claimed Vietnam service when he was the Connecticut attorney general in the 2000s.\u00a0 Later, he changed his statements to “Vietnam era.”<\/p>\n

Blumenthal apologized in 2010 for misrepresenting his service. He was quoted as saying to reporters: \u201cOn a few occasions I have misspoken about my service and I regret that, and I will take full responsibility.”<\/p>\n

When people do this it should be treated more seriously than an accidental burp followed with a quick “Pardon me, my bad.”<\/p>\n
