Washington was to face court-martial for charges of assault and sexual assault.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, a mistrial was declared in his court-martial on 16 January 2019.  It is unclear whether or not a new court-martial panel will be appointed to hear the case or if this will be the end of the matter.<\/p>\n<p>I say &#8220;unfortunately&#8221; above because all concerned &#8211; e.g., the USAF, Lt. Col. Washington, and his alleged victim &#8211; deserve this matter to be settled definitively.
