David Harris Jr Videos<\/a><\/p>\nThe video shows a young woman claiming to be frightened by the wearing of the MAGA hat. So frightened she launches into an argument about her emotions are just as important as facts. The video ends before she gets too far into explaining how her emotions are real and because they are real they are the same as facts.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s a ridiculous premise of course, but it\u2019s an interesting phenomenon of late as we hear it over and over in other forms. Liberal colleges shouting down a conservative speaker, those same colleges offering safe spaces where butthurt little angels can play with sparkle ponies and relieve the stress and anguish of hearing a different viewpoint from their tender sensibilities. News shows asking about feelings and positing the idea that some words should be banned and some ideas along with them because they run counter to the current mainstream politically correct ideas about speech and speech crimes. Oblivious to the idea that once you allow some speech to become restricted it\u2019s only a matter of time before the encroachment becomes all too overbearing and idea limiting.<\/p>\n
Which brings me to the dreaded Red Hat, what is it about that hat that strikes terror into the hearts of so many on the left? Where did this notion of Trump the racist is causing death and destruction throughout the nation come from? Why does it propagate in the complete absence of evidence? Black unemployment and Hispanic unemployment are at nationally historic lows, murder is dropping again. Unemployment overall is low, job creation and personal incomes are up. There are no Americans being rounded up and forced into re-education camps and Trump has not even shut down the shit show that is the Mueller investigation. The factual evidence of our current situation is that we are prospering and relatively safe in these United States. Clearly something must be wrong though, how can so many people find Trump a racist monster who also hates the LGBTQ community and hastens their early death on a regular basis through his pogroms?<\/p>\n
I think the video explains it quite well, there is a large group of Americans operating under the notion that their emotions should carry the same weight as factual evidence. That their beliefs \u201ctrump\u201d facts because they feel that\u2019s how it ought to be.<\/p>\n
It certainly explains the easily frightened college students, the desire by colleges to prohibit speech that interferes with their emotional state of anti-Trump feelings.<\/p>\n
It also sadly reveals once again how few people understand the concepts behind freedom as understood by the men who built this nation after the revolution with England. It reveals the desire for safety over freedom and it reveals just how many Americans are content to sit on their asses consuming social media, reality TV, and numbing themselves to the fact they\u2019ve willingly become the sheep they\u2019ve been so often referred to by the ruling elite of the nation.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve made clear previously I\u2019m not a particular fan of Trump either now or previously, I however do have the capacity to recognize when something is working and give credit to those who\u2019ve made it work and that is where I believe we are now. Doing well as a nation largely due to the efforts of the disruptor to throw a wrench in the gears of government and make it cry out and change for the betterment of the people it purports to serve and protect.<\/p>\n
As usual I\u2019m reminded of Mencken when I consider Trump\u2019s actions when Mencken wrote this: The great artists of the world are never Puritans, and seldom even ordinarily respectable. No virtuous man \u2014 that is, virtuous in the Y.M.C.A. sense \u2014 has ever painted a picture worth looking at, or written a symphony worth hearing, or a book worth reading.<\/p>\n
Perhaps Mencken\u2019s words apply equally to politicians, the best ones are also often deeply flawed but serve us best in spite of those flaws.<\/p>\n
