This case was given to us by Military Phony<\/a> – Emmett West Mills Jr ,\u00a062 y\/o<\/del><\/span>\u00a0 72 y\/o provided music support to an event held in the Villages, FL.<\/p>\n

It was clarified through the Senior Warden of the Lodge if Mills was wearing a costume for Halloween or not but the answer was that “the uniform in question was worn to honor, not only his military service but his father’s as well.\u00a0 He is a member of SEAL Team 2.”<\/p>\n

The Navy gave results on an Emmett Mills with a completely different Navy background but this man is one and the same.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A former Navy SEAL with access to the SEAL BUD\/S database was contacted and asked to verify Mills\u2019 name. His findings stated, \u201cFrom 1943 to the end of 2012 there were only TWELVE (12) men with the last name “MILLS” who graduated from BUD\/S. NONE of them show either a first name or middle name EMMETT. Only ONE (1) of those men was an officer at all. That one man was an ENSIGN in BUD\/S and only reached LIEUTENANT as a final rank before leaving the Teams. His name is\/was ENS\/LT ALDEN MORRIS MILLS.<\/p>\n

The Senior Warden of the lodge was contacted regarding the findings of the SEAL BUD\/S database search. There was no response.<\/p>\n

After contacting the UDT\/SEAL archives, the Naval Special Warfare Center and checking the UDT\/SEAL database we found that there is NO record of Emmett Mills ever completing BUD\/S Training or being assigned to a SEAL Team.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Emmett Mills Jr. retired after serving from Dec 1965 to Sep 1972. He retired at the rate of CTR1 (Cryptologic Technician E-6).\u00a0 His awards and decorations are listed as the National Defense Service Medal and the Naval Good Conduct Medal.<\/p>\n

The FOIA summary does not reflect that Mills is authorized to wear the SEAL Trident, O-6 rank, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, or Vietnam campaign medals.<\/p>\n

The Purple Heart may put him in violation of the Stolen Valor Act.<\/p>\n

Valor Vulture excuse No# 3 is now “I was wearing it to honor…”\u00a0 we have moved it up from the number 5 slot due to a recent drop in, “I thought it was put it in my records” and “that’s not me in the picture”.<\/p>\n

In any event, if it’s all just a giant misunderstanding we are glad we could help Emmett clear up the confusion for the people that might have been under the impression that he was a Naval Officer and Navy SEAL.<\/p>\n
