The FBI showed up out of nowhere! By the way, did I mention that this is a CNN exclusive?<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Folks are claiming that CNN was on position in time to catch the FBI arresting Rodger Stone early in the morning. He has been charged with obstructing an investigation, making false statements, and trying to get people to lie to the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>None of these related to President Trump or to &#8220;his&#8221; alleged Russian collusion. One thing many are talking about, though, is CNN being in position to catch this in progress:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Greatest Witch Hunt in the History of our Country! Trump (@realDonaldTrump) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDonaldTrump\/status\/1088832908494888961?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 25, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Why have a news crew on station, given time of the day, and given the profile of the investigation, the investigators, and the accused? This was like the fiasco with the early 1990s with regards to the filming of Marines and SEALS landing in Somalia. In both cases, safety was compromised partly in order to feed the camera crews.<\/p>\n<p>A bigger question making rounds is how CNN ended up being the major news network on the scene. Was there a tip off? CNN argues that it acted on a hunch. If someone tipped them, and it was an opportunity for a news organization to have a first report, an exclusive, they couldn&#8217;t be faulted on doing what any other news organization would do in their situation.<\/p>\n<p>Even if CNN delayed reporting on the events, the fact that they were at the right place at the right time is causing folk to raise questions.<\/p>\n<p>Greta Van Susteren provided an input based on her experiences as a criminal defense attorney:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">I bring to this story years of being a criminal defense attorney &#8230;it is unusual in a nonviolent crime that there is an early morning raid (and not surrender) unless fear destruction of evidence or flight or the prosecutor really does not like the target of the warrant <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/IiFzWeyM7Z\">https:\/\/t.co\/IiFzWeyM7Z<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Greta Van Susteren (@greta) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/greta\/status\/1088817941704073216?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 25, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">&#8220;&#8230;or the prosecutor really does not like the target of the warrant.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>CNN&#8217;s earlier account of the arrest:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A number of law enforcement vehicles with silent sirens flashing pulled in front of Stone&#8217;s home on a darkened Ft. Lauderdale street just after 6 a.m. Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>About a dozen officers with heavy weapons and tactical vests fanned out across Stone&#8217;s lawn.<\/p>\n<p>Law enforcement shined a flashlight into Stone&#8217;s front door before one officer rapped against it, shouting, &#8220;FBI. Open the door.&#8221;<br \/>\nSeconds later, the agent shouted, &#8220;FBI. Warrant.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A floor light turned on and moments later, Stone appeared in the front entryway.
