{"id":84302,"date":"2019-01-17T14:00:56","date_gmt":"2019-01-17T18:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=84302"},"modified":"2019-01-17T13:35:36","modified_gmt":"2019-01-17T17:35:36","slug":"thursdays-are-for-cooking-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=84302","title":{"rendered":"Thursdays Are For Cooking"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_83907\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-83907\" style=\"width: 443px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-83907\" src=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Peppers-2018-300x216.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"443\" height=\"319\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Peppers-2018-300x216.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Peppers-2018-768x554.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Peppers-2018-462x333.jpg 462w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 443px) 100vw, 443px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-83907\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bell peppers<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This week\u2019s effort is for those days when the wind is howling outside around the eaves of the house, and snow blows right into your face when you\u2019re shoveling the sidewalk or front steps.<\/p>\n<p>Also, since Aysel likes to use the slow cooker or Crockpot, this can be done in the slow cooker for the convenience of it.<\/p>\n<p>Chili, an ancient and honored food species, is usually made with beef, tomato sauce and various spices, onions, and beans.<\/p>\n<p>However, if you do not like the effect beans have on your friends after you\u2019ve consumed them, you can, of course, leave them out of the mix.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Slow cooker chili:<\/strong><br \/>\n1 lb ground beef<br \/>\n\u00be cup diced onion<br \/>\n\u00be cup diced celery<br \/>\n\u00be cup diced bell pepper (optional)<br \/>\n2 cloves of minced garlic (or abt. 1 tablespoon from the jar)<br \/>\n2 10 oz. cans of tomato sauce<br \/>\n1 small can tomato paste<br \/>\n2 cans 15 oz. chili beans, w\/ liquid<br \/>\n1 can 15 ix cannellinis w\/ liquid<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon chili powder<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon dried parsley<br \/>\n1 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n\u00be teaspoon each of oregano and basil<br \/>\n\u00bc teaspoon of black pepper<br \/>\n1\/8 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)<\/p>\n<p>Place the beef in a skillet over medium heat and cook until it is an even brown. Drain grease. (Hint: you can cook the beef the night before, to save some time.)<\/p>\n<p>Place the beef in a slow cooker, and mix in onion, celery, green bell pepper, garlic, tomato puree, kidney beans, and cannellini beans. Season with chili powder, parsley, salt, basil, oregano, black pepper, and hot pepper sauce.<\/p>\n<p>Cover, and cook 8 (eight) hours on Low.\u00a0 And tell people to leave it alone because the flavor will escape to The Wild if they take the lid off, and you&#8217;ll never get it back.<\/p>\n<p>Make some cornbread to go with the chili.
