Ghodratollah Mansouri allegedly shot himself in the head by accident while cleaning his pistol, according to the Sunday report.<\/p>\n<p data-elm-loc=\"2\">The report added that Mansouri was veteran of the 1980s Iran-Iraq war and a \u201cdefender of the shrine,\u201d a reference to Iranians who fight against the extremist Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq.<\/p>\n<p data-elm-loc=\"3\">Since 2014, Mansouri was a regional commander of the Guard\u2019s ground forces in the northeastern city of Mashhad, some 900 kilometers east of the capital Tehran.<\/p>\n<p data-elm-loc=\"4\">Hundreds of Iranian forces have been killed fighting IS in Syria and Iraq.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-elm-loc=\"4\">Hearts and minds people, its all about winning their hearts and minds.<\/p>\n<p>Source: <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/middle_east\/iranian-general-fatally-shoots-himself-by-accident\/2018\/12\/16\/e69fc182-0153-11e9-958c-0a601226ff6b_story.html\">Report: Iranian general fatally shoots himself by accident &#8211; The Washington Post<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What a tragic loss, I know many of you join me in sorrow over this.
