{"id":83398,"date":"2018-12-11T07:00:58","date_gmt":"2018-12-11T11:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=83398"},"modified":"2018-12-10T17:44:23","modified_gmt":"2018-12-10T21:44:23","slug":"tuesday-feel-good-stories-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=83398","title":{"rendered":"Tuesday Feel Good Stories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/gun-and-flag-800x430-e1544476217886.jpg\" alt=\"glock &amp; flag\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">One in the cooler, one in the wind.<\/span><br \/>\n<strong>No murder charge in shooting, DA rules <\/strong>By AMY HAMILTON<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A woman who admitted to the September shooting death of 26-year-old Brandon Sanchez will not face a murder charge, because the case meets all the criteria for self-defense under Colorado&#8217;s &#8220;Make My Day&#8221; law, according to a recent ruling by Mesa County District Attorney Dan Rubinstein.<\/p>\n<p>Melissa Pruitt, 34, told investigators she shot and killed Sanchez after he and another man entered a Grand Junction garage where she and three other people were sleeping, and the two intruders beat up one of the people in the garage.<\/p>\n<p>Pruitt said she had permission and had been staying for a few days at the home at 3116 Chipeta Ave. when she was woken up the night of Sept. 16 by two men hitting &#8220;Lil A&#8221; \u2014 a man later identified as Adam Rodriguez, 27. Pruitt told investigators Sanchez and the other man hit Rodriguez in the face, until his teeth were bashed out and &#8220;there was blood everywhere each time they hit him,&#8221; an affidavit for her arrest said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the record, Pruitt had seen guns in an unlocked case in the garage so she ran to it, picked out a gun and shot one of the intruders, who then ran outside after being shot.<\/p>\n<p>Police were called to the home and found Sanchez lying in the backyard, dead from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I shot him, I didn&#8217;t know what to do. He was beating that kid,&#8221; Pruitt spontaneously told a deputy, according to the affidavit. &#8220;I was woken up by him beating that kid. I didn&#8217;t know what to do. The employee is not facing any charges at this time, police said. (Chris Libonati | clibonati@syracuse.com) <\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>SYRACUSE, N.Y. &#8212; The employee at a North Side market is facing no charges for shooting an alleged robber who entered the market Friday evening, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>A man armed with a handgun entered the Alibaba Market at 419 Wolf St., around 7:45 p.m. and tried to rob the store, said police spokesman Sgt. Richard Helterline.<\/p>\n<p>The employee shot the suspect, who fled on foot, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Soon afterward, police found a man on the 600 block of Lemoyne Avenue with gunshot wounds. That&#8217;s about a tenth of a mile away from the store.<\/p>\n<p>The alleged, would-be robber was rushed to the hospital and into surgery for his injuries.
