From Pittsburgh, PA<\/a><\/p>\n

Pittsburgh police believe an armed home invasion led to a struggle, with the victim getting the gun from the intruder and fatally shooting the attacker on the rear patio of a South Side Slopes home Friday morning.<\/p>\n

What first brought police to the home in the 100 block of Monastery Avenue was the victim’s 911 call reporting a robbery. What officers found when they arrived was a man shot and killed — which led to a more complicated investigation.<\/p>\n

Police identified the man killed as Daniel Ling, 18, of Baldwin.<\/p>\n

“There was a (911) call from a resident who said he had been robbed. When police got here, they found a body on the property,” Public Safety spokesman Chris Togneri said. “The resident was taken to the hospital first to be treated for a laceration on his head, and then was taken to police headquarters for questioning. But at this point, nobody has been arrested.”<\/p>\n

Police were investigating and gathering evidence for five hours, both inside and outside the house.\u00a0A man at the home declined comment when approached by Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 late Friday afternoon.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

KCSO\u00a0says one person was shot in the leg on Sunday evening in the 100 block of East\u00a0Pacheco Road, near South\u00a0Union Avenue.<\/p>\n

According to KCSO, the shooting was a case of self-defense, and two different calibers of shell casings were found at the scene.<\/p>\n

Both people involved are males; the man who was reportedly acting in self-defense is 38 years old, and the man who was hit by gunfire is 33. His injuries are moderate and not life threatening, according to KCSO.<\/p>\n

The sheriff’s office says no arrests will be made and the case will be submitted to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A bungling burglar in Minnesota was nabbed after his pickup got stuck in a large pile of foul-smelling manure during the getaway, according to reports.<\/p>\n

Matthew Bloomquist, 29, of Hawick, Minn., was found standing on the side of the road, smoking a cigarette, covered in manure from his waist to his feet when deputies arrived to investigate Wednesday morning, according to Stearns County Sheriff Don Gudmundson.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was wearing jean shorts over long underwear and no shoes, which the deputies assumed were somewhere in the manure pile,\u201d Gudmundson said Friday in an incident report titled, \u201cSomething doesn\u2019t smell right.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously this encounter was accompanied by a strong smelling odor,\u201d he said. \u201cAdd to that the fair amount of rain we received over the weekend and you have a nice blend.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deputies said Bloomquist was caught snatching lumber and other items from a farm shed in Maine Prairie Township.\u00a0\u00a0When the farm owner called to report the overnight burglary, he said surprisingly that the pickup involved was still on the property, stuck in the manure, Gudmundson said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
