{"id":80691,"date":"2018-07-20T09:53:59","date_gmt":"2018-07-20T13:53:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=80691"},"modified":"2018-07-20T09:53:59","modified_gmt":"2018-07-20T13:53:59","slug":"oathkeepers-cancel-protest-counter-protesters-burn-flag","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=80691","title":{"rendered":"Oathkeepers cancel protest; counter-protesters burn flag"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/american-flag-burned-outside-la-office-congresswoman-224140559.html\">Associated Press<\/a>, Oathkeepers planned a protest at Maxine Waters&#8217; office in Los Angeles, California and then cancelled it at the last moment. <\/p>\n<p>A pickup with two passengers didn&#8217;t get the word and when they showed up at Waters&#8217; office, counter-protesters ripped the flag from the truck, stomped on it and burned the flag;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The Oath Keepers would like nothing more than to inflame racial tensions and create an explosive conflict in our community,&#8221; Waters said in a statement a day earlier urging counter-protesters to stay away.<\/p>\n<p>A few dozen counter-protesters including union workers, church leaders, South Los Angeles residents and members of activist groups gathered peacefully outside the office at midday. Some held signs proclaiming &#8220;Black, brown and labor unity!&#8221; and &#8220;Resist!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These people are coming here to cause problems,&#8221; said Cliff Smith, an organizer with United Union of Roofers Waterproofers and Allied Workers Local No. 36. &#8220;Violent right wing groups have no business here.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yeah, the &#8220;racist&#8221; Oathkeepers deployed to Ferguson, Missouri a few years back to defend Michael Brown supporters against the police.
