He began his military career in 1970  as an enlisted soldier in the Guard and then he was commissioned in 1972 and he spent his entire career in the National Guard, until he retired in 1994. He wasn&#8217;t even parachutist qualified, one would think that a commander of an Airborne Cops could jump from an airplane.
