Authorities say officers have shot and killed a man who was one of several suspects involved in an early-morning home invasion in Corpus Christi.<\/p>\n

Corpus Christi police say the man died at an apartment complex Wednesday after he and others were seen leaving an apartment.<\/p>\n

Authorities say a woman in the apartment called police to say a group of men had forced their way in, had assaulted people inside and were taking items with them.<\/p>\n

At least one was armed with a gun.<\/p>\n

It wasn’t clear why officers were prompted to fire on the man who was killed.<\/p>\n

Another man was arrested and at least one other fled as police arrived.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A St. Louis-area man who helped rob a jewelry store here shot himself during the heist, giving investigators DNA to connect him to the crime, according to federal charges.<\/p>\n

Michael Anderson Gladney, 41, was charged Friday by complaint in U.S. District Court in St. Louis with armed robbery and one count of possessing and discharging a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. He was arrested Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors say he and three other men entered Vincent\u2019s Jewelers at 11733 Olive Boulevard at about 12:40 p.m. on March 19. One had a pipe and three others, including Gladney, were armed with guns, they said. The robbers ordered workers to the rear of the store and fired into a jewelry case to get at the merchandise inside, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n

Gladney shot himself during the robbery and left a trail of blood from a glass case to where a getaway car was parked, prosecutors said. St. Louis County police used that blood to obtain DNA, and matched it to a sample from Gladney in a law enforcement database, prosecutors said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
