{"id":78041,"date":"2018-03-03T12:30:20","date_gmt":"2018-03-03T17:30:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=78041"},"modified":"2018-03-03T12:30:20","modified_gmt":"2018-03-03T17:30:20","slug":"arnold-harrison-comes-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=78041","title":{"rendered":"Arnold Harrison comes home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" style=\"border-width:0\" src=\"http:\/\/interactive.tegna-media.com\/video\/embed\/embed.html?id=8025591&#038;type=video&#038;title=WWII Marine repatriated 75 years after death&#038;site=287&#038;playerid=6918249996585&#038;dfpid=32805352&#038;dfpposition=embed_preroll\u00a7ion=home\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Hondo told us that Arnold Harrison was identified by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=75474\">DPAA last year<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wfaa.com\/article\/life\/heartwarming\/wwii-marine-repatriated-75-years-after-his-death\/287-525062835\">WFAA <\/a>reports that he finally made it home from the battlefield in Tarawa where he served with Company B, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force on his birthday.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;He tried to join the Marines when he was 17,&#8221; [John Welnack Sr., 88, his cousin and closest living relative] said of his cousin. &#8220;Anybody that would sacrifice their own life for their country, or other people, in my thinking is a hero.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Honoring a hero is why the North Texas Patriot Guard Riders, and a Dallas Police motorcycle detail escorted the Marine&#8217;s casket when his remains arrived at DFW Airport on Thursday and were taken to a funeral home in Sachse.<\/p>\n<p>The same motorcade gave him a hero&#8217;s escort again on Friday when his body was taken to its final resting place at DFW National Cemetery. Other members of the Harrison\/Welnack family are also buried there, so his extended family found it fitting that he be buried there.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re talking about a 20-year-old man that actually gave up his life, on his birthday his 20th birthday, for this country, in defense of this country.
