A few years later, he was drafted into the Army where he served from 1951-1953, spending a year in Germany. According to a 1954 article in the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph, even though he had two movies under his belt, he got no preferential treatment from the Army, claiming that he didn’t even sing for the first five months that he was in Germany;<\/p>\n
