{"id":77616,"date":"2018-02-09T10:26:10","date_gmt":"2018-02-09T15:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=77616"},"modified":"2018-02-09T10:26:10","modified_gmt":"2018-02-09T15:26:10","slug":"cristina-garcia-ca-me-too-leader-accused-of-groping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=77616","title":{"rendered":"Cristina Garcia, CA #Me Too leader accused of groping"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><center><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?attachment_id=77617\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-77617\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Cristina-Garcia.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"259\" height=\"215\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-77617\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/male-staffer-accuses-california-assemblywoman-misconduct-003752466.html\">The Associated Press<\/a> reports that Cristina Garcia, a California legislator and a leading figure in the state&#8217;s anti-sexual harassment movement has been accused of groping another legislator&#8217;s staffer;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Daniel Fierro told The Associated Press on Thursday that Garcia stroked his back, squeezed his buttocks and attempted to touch his crotch in a dugout after a legislative softball game in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Fierro didn&#8217;t report it at the time but in January told his former boss, Democratic Assemblyman Ian Calderon, who reported it to Assembly leaders. The Assembly is now investigating Garcia.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You&#8217;ve heard Garcia&#8217;s response before in so many male responses to their accusers;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Every complaint about sexual harassment should be taken seriously and I will participate fully in any investigation that takes place,&#8221; the Los Angeles-area lawmaker said in a statement thursday. &#8220;I have zero recollection of engaging in inappropriate behavior and such behavior is inconsistent with my values.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Fierro says he is coming forward because of Garcia&#8217;s hypocrisy. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Garcia&#8217;s photo was featured in Time Magazine&#8217;s Person of the Year issue on being one of the &#8220;Silence Breakers&#8221; on sexual harassment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I refuse to work with (Assemblyman Raul Bocanegra) and anyone who takes part in harassment or assault,&#8221; she tweeted in October after it was reported Bocanegra had been disciplined in 2009 for groping a colleague. Bocanegra later resigned after more women made public accusations.<\/p>\n<p>Garcia was a fierce advocate for legislation signed by Gov. Jerry Brown on Monday giving legislative staff members whistleblower protections for reporting sexual misconduct or other misbehavior, speaking at a rally on the Capitol steps after its passage.
