<\/a><\/center><\/p>\nThe New York Post<\/a> reports that Army private, Emmanuel Mensah, was home on leave for the first time since he enlisted a year ago, when the building that he was staying in was consumed in fire. He helped several people to safety, but then succumbed to the inferno himself; <\/p>\n \u201cHe helped his roommate\u2019s wife and children, they were trying to come out to the stairs and he stopped them.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe told them to come out the window .?.?. Then he went in and tried to rescue people out.\u201d<\/p>\n Emmanuel\u2019s body was recovered from another apartment on the same floor, the father said.<\/p>\n The \u201ccalm and lovely\u201d young patriot had set his heart on becoming a soldier when the family moved to the US from their native Ghana five or six years ago, [his father] Kwabena said.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen he came here he just said, \u2018Dad, I want to join the Army,\u2019?\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n \u201cAt first I didn\u2019t agree with him, but I decided that\u2019s his choice.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
