Well, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fox32chicago.com\/news\/local\/top-un-officials-to-visit-chicago-to-address-violence-problem\">Chicago Fox 32<\/a>, Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin was in New York this week to discuss with United Nations officials a possibility that the UN could mount a peacekeeping mission in the City of Big Shoulders.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Boykin met with the U.N.&#8217;s assistant secretary-general for peace-building support.<\/p>\n<p>He calls the violence in Chicago a, &#8220;quiet genocide&#8221; in the city&#8217;s black community and he appealed to the U.N. because it\u2019s trained in keeping the peace.<\/p>\n<p>There is no word on exactly what they&#8217;ll be doing when they get to the city.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/chicago.cbslocal.com\/2017\/12\/14\/richard-boykin-united-nations-gun-violence\/\">CBS Local<\/a>;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Boykin said Chicago must \u201cutilize every avenue\u201d available to protect its people from gun violence, possibly including U.N. peacekeepers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve been able to help in places like Africa and abroad, where they\u2019ve sent troops in and sent forces in to help protect minority and vulnerable populations, and so quite frankly I think the same can be said for here in Chicago,\u201d Boykin said. \u201cI\u2019m talking about physical security. I\u2019m also talking about maybe suggestions for what we can do in Chicago to help protect our minority populations. We\u2019re being, again, decimated by the violence that we see here in Chicago. I mean this is really a genocide, and we have to do something to stop it.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Somehow, troops from the third world are more palatable to Chicago leadership than Americans. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI know that the mayor may tout the fact that the number of people being shot is down, and the number of people being killed is down, but let me tell you, we\u2019ve had over 600 people killed by gun violence already this year alone. That is a huge number,\u201d Boykin said.<\/p>\n<p>Through the end of November, Chicago has had at least 620 homicides.
