A man who lives in the 600 block of NW Fairhaven Drive told police he heard something coming from the family shed and went out to investigate.<\/p>\n

When he got outside, Jorge Lopes, 42, came out of the shed with a drill above his head as if he was going to attack the homeowner, police said.<\/p>\n

The victim said he drew his firearm and told Lopes to lay on the ground. Lopes did so and the victim held him at gunpoint until police arrived.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A 72-year-old man who shot dead a burglar he caught breaking into his caravan in the middle of the night was today jailed for illegally owning the shotgun without a licence.<\/p>\n

Reuben Gregory told police who arrived in woodland near Heathrow airport and found Wayne Digby’s body that he ‘was the one that did it, mate’.<\/p>\n

The pensioner was initially arrested on suspicion of murder but later released and told he would not be prosecuted for the death of Digby, 48.<\/p>\n

Digby was caught trying to remove the door from his caravan and armed with a meat-tendering hammer and a makeshift Molotov cocktail fire bomb.<\/p>\n

Later Mr Gregory was charged with possessing a firearm without a certificate – an offence he admitted in court last September.<\/p>\n

He was today jailed for 10 months, with the final half of his sentence to be served on licence, Judge Paul Dugale said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania<\/a>;<\/p>\n

Police were called to the scene of the home in the 2700 block of Veteran Street shortly after 2:30 a.m. for a reported home invasion.<\/p>\n

According to police, someone inside of the home fired a shot at the intruders. The shot did not hit anyone, but sources told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that a woman was taken to the hospital with an unrelated injury.<\/p>\n

That woman was later taken to jail. Details surrounding her charges have not yet been released. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Nashville, Tennessee<\/a>;<\/p>\n

A suspect in an alleged attempted robbery was reportedly shot by the victim.<\/p>\n

Authorities responded to the shooting at the Extended Stay Hotel in the 2500 block of Elm Hill Pike on Sunday.<\/p>\n

A preliminary investigation showed the suspect pulled out a gun to rob the victim, but the victim then grabbed his gun and fired multiple rounds.<\/p>\n

The suspect was shot and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with critical injuries.<\/p>\n
