The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vets.gov\/veteran-id-card\/\">online system<\/a> promptly became overloaded with requests and quit working, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stripes.com\/news\/high-demand-for-new-veteran-id-cards-crashes-va-website-1.500945\">Stars &#038; Stripes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p> The website that veterans were instructed to apply for them, vets.gov, contained a message Tuesday that it had temporarily stopped the online application process.<\/p>\n<p>The VA was attempting to fix the problem as of Tuesday afternoon, said Curt Cashour, the agency\u2019s press secretary.
