Four teens armed with a knife, guns and a roll of tape planned to kidnap and rob members of a Baker family last night, but their plot didn\u2019t go as planned and now all four are in custody. Inside their SUV deputies also found latex gloves, facial masks and dark clothing.<\/p>\n

The Okaloosa County Sheriff\u2019s Office responded around 10:30 p.m. to a call of a possible home invasion robbery in progress at a home on Preservation Path.
\nThe 51-year old homeowner says his 17-year old daughter had called him to tell him that someone had blocked the road to their house with barrels. Instead of getting out of her car she drove around them. A short time later her father heard his dogs barking and saw his front motion-activated flood lights come on. He also heard what sounded like his car door closing and went to get his gun. After spotting some individuals trying to force their way into his garage, he fired three shots and the intruders fled into the woods. He later learned they had unscrewed some of his security lights.<\/p>\n

An alert neighbor who saw a suspicious car near her house around the same timeframe quickly called in a description of the vehicle to deputies, who spotted the 2016 White Jeep Liberty on Highway 4 and made a felony traffic stop.
\nInside the car they found 19-year old Keilon Johnson, 17-year old Austin French, 16-year old Tyree Johnson, and 15-year old Kamauri Horn, all of Crestview.
\nThe OCSO investigation revealed the teens had concocted a plan to kidnap the teenage daughter. The goal was to first force her out of her car by blocking the road with barrels and garbage cans. (However their intended victim drove around the barrels and kept going.) They then planned to head to her house, confront and subdue her father – who they believed to be wealthy – and rob the home.<\/p>\n

Instead all four defendants are now charged with attempted kidnapping and attempted home invasion robbery. 19-year old Keilon Johnson was booked into the Okaloosa County Jail. The other defendants were transferred to a Department of Juvenile Justice facility.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Morganton, North Carolina<\/a>;<\/p>\n

Steven Adam Taylor, 38, has been charged in the murder of Kevin Lewis McSheffrey, 33. <\/p>\n

Deputies were called to a ‘breaking and entering in progress’ along Gold Mine Road at 7:41 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8. in Morganton. Upon arrival, they located McSheffrey dead from a gunshot wound. <\/p>\n

Deputies said upon listening to the homeowner’s story of the events and conducting a preliminary assessment of the scene, a search warrant was issued for the home. <\/p>\n

After processing the scene, interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence, and conferring with the DA, a warrant for murder was issued for Taylor. He’s currently being held without bond. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Miami, Florida<\/a>;<\/p>\n

The co-owner of a Miami barbershop was forced to shoot a man inside his business Thursday morning because he had been stabbed in the stomach by an intruder and was defending himself, according to his daughter.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe attacked my Dad and he defended himself,\u201d said Jennefer Beriguete, who says her 45-year-old father Serban Berigete was attacked at the Cooperstown Barbershop at 2060 N.W. 22nd Ave. in Allapattah just after 11 a.m.<\/p>\n

She told CBS4\u2019s Peter D\u2019Oench, \u201cHis attacker got shot when he stabbed my dad. My dad defended himself by shooting him. I am pretty stunned and pretty upset. But I hope for the best for my dad.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both men were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in serious condition.<\/p>\n

Police later confirmed that the alleged attacker was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
