Around 6:30 a.m. police say the suspect robbed a Southside Place CVS then rode a METRO bus to a McDonald’s on Bellaire Boulevard near the Chimney Rock Road intersection. Assistant Chief Matt Slinkard said the man waited for customers to leave the restaurant, then assaulted the manager.<\/p>\n

“As the suspect exits the McDonald’s, still with the screwdriver and a pair of scissors, one Bellaire officer and two HPD homicide officers encountered that suspect,” Slinkard said.<\/p>\n

Investigators say the suspect stood in the middle of a busy Bellaire Boulevard, refusing to drop the screwdriver or scissors.<\/p>\n

Slinkard said the Bellaire officer and Houston officer both deployed their taser. The man was hit by one taser. Police say it had no effect on him and he continued to threaten the officers. At that point, the Houston officer shot him. Slinkard said he wasn’t sure how many times the suspect was hit.<\/p>\n

The man died at Ben Taub Hospital.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sebastian Police said officers responded to Earl’s Hideaway Lounge on Oct. 9 after 28-year-old Ward Kenyon threatened a person at the bar and flashed two guns.<\/p>\n

An employee, who knew Kenyon and his violent history, flagged down a patrolling officer who immediately called for backup.<\/p>\n

Three officers then approached Kenyon inside the lunge and tried to frisk and handcuff him. According to FDLE, Kenyon resisted and pulled a gun from his waist.<\/p>\n

The preliminary investigation showed Officer Preet Singh “instinctively reacted” and grabbed the gun to control it. The officer and Kenyon struggled for the gun. Police said Kenyon fired the gun.<\/p>\n

Other officers on scene said Kenyon then pointed the gun at Singh.<\/p>\n

Officer Neveu, according to the report, thought Kenyon was about to kill officer Singh. Neveu pulled out his gun and shot Kenyon. Investigators said it was “in the direction away from the bar crowd.”<\/p>\n

According to the preliminary report, Singh and Kenyon fell to the ground. The officer got up, and Kenyon crawled under a pool table and stood up with his gun drawn. Corporal Garrison, a third officer on scene, shot him.<\/p>\n

Kenyon dropped the gun and left a second gun on the ground before surrendering, according to the report.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
