From Pickens County, South Carolina<\/a>, good news for a man there;<\/p>\n

Hashe detailed the Sept. 12 death of Henry Hugh Thomas, 39, in a news release Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

He said detectives have interviewed everyone who was in the home on Walker Street in Easley at the time of the shooting. Investigators said Thomas went into the home at about 8 p.m. through a door that was closed by not locked. They said Thomas was a stranger to the homeowner and four other adults who were in the home.<\/p>\n

The people in the home said when they questioned Thomas, he pulled out a .22-caliber semi-automatic handgun that he pointed at them at fired two shots. Two of the man scuffled with Thomas, and another guest, James Christopher Murphy, retrieved a .9 mm. handgun that belonged to the homeowner that he fired twice, hitting Thomas in the upper and lower torso.<\/p>\n

Witnesses said that when he was shot, Thomas was still holding the weapon that he had brought to the scene and was still actively fighting the men who were trying to disarm him.<\/p>\n

Hashe said that Thomas dropped his weapon after he was wounded and was held on the floor until authorities arrived. He later died from his injuries during surgery at a local hospital. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Springfield, Illinois<\/a>;<\/p>\n

Springfield police say officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of East Keyes Street at about 12:44 p.m. for a reported home invasion. Upon arriving, officers say they spoke with a man who said he shot someone after they forced their way into his house.<\/p>\n

Police also say the suspect was later dropped off at Memorial Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound. Officers add that the suspect is currently in stable condition.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Sacramento, California<\/a>;<\/p>\n

Sacramento police say they found two 15-year-old boys who had been shot. Both teens were taken to the hospital, but one was later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, based on their preliminary information, detectives say the teens look to have been in the area in order to commit a home invasion robbery. Detectives have not said how they have come to that conclusion.<\/p>\n

Detectives say they have identified the people involved in the incident believe case to be isolated. The incident is not believed to be gang-related.<\/p>\n

The Sacramento County Coroner\u2019s Office has identified the boy killed as Tamir Williams.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Killeen, Texas<\/a>; <\/p>\n

Instead, police say, a would-be robber attempted to break into a residence, but the homeowner tried to fight him off outside the home.<\/p>\n

During the fight, the robber fired a single shot that struck the tire of a nearby vehicle.<\/p>\n

Then a woman who also lived in the home turned her pit bull loose on the man.<\/p>\n

The dog attacked the would-be robber, who fled with some witnesses in pursuit.<\/p>\n

The witnesses directed officers to Florence Road, where they arrested the would-be robber, whom paramedics treated at the scene for a dog bite.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A convenience store clerk in Cincinnati, Ohio<\/a> is breathing easier tonight;<\/p>\n

Hananiah Israel, 34, entered Sam’s Quick Market on Harrison Avenue in South Fairmount at about 9:30 p.m. Sept. 20. He pointed a pistol at the clerks and demanded money, according to Deters. <\/p>\n

One of the clerks threw cash across the counter while the other shouted for Israel to put down the gun, according to Deters. The clerk then fired one shot, hitting Israel. <\/p>\n

He later died at University of Cincinnati Medical Center, [Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe] Deters said. <\/p>\n

Deters said Wednesday he was not even taking the case to a grand jury.<\/p>\n

“If you enter a store with a weapon to rob it, you have forfeited your right not to be shot,” he said. “And these clerks were lucky they weren’t victims themselves. They were clearly defending themselves.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Dayton, Ohio<\/a>;<\/p>\n

Officers went to the house on Anna Street just after 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday on a report of a burglary in progress.<\/p>\n

When officers arrived, they spoke with the homeowner, who said he heard a loud noise near his front door.<\/p>\n

He also described seeing a flashlight inside the hallway of his home.<\/p>\n

The homeowner, who had a CCW permit, fired his gun at the suspect.<\/p>\n

The suspect left and dropped a cell phone inside the house.<\/p>\n

Police arrived on the scene and searched the area.<\/p>\n

Officers found [28-year-old Dawane] Kelso near a house less than one block from the location of the break-in attempt. After making contact with Kelso, he was arrested just after 8 a.m. on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Kelso is being held in the Montgomery County Jail. A report from the Dayton Police Department indicates preliminary charges of burglary and aggravated burglary.<\/p>\n

Police at the scene told 2 NEWS a man was found in an alley near the home on Anna St. shortly after the report of shots being fired. That man had a gunshot wound to the leg, and was taken to Miami Valley Hospital.<\/p>\n
