With the stakes so high we simply cannot afford the same old gri

No, Mr. President, it’s not perfect, but if we’re going to spend $825 billion, money that we’re going to be paying back for decades, don’t you have a responsibility to the American taxpayer to take the time to make it perfect? We’ve already seen what the Democrat strategy is for “working with both parties” as evidenced by your comment last weekend that you won the election and things will have to go your way. If the bill isn’t clean, take out the offensive, useless spending and make it clean – it’s your job. Don’t dictate to the American people what we should accept and what we shouldn’t.

If he really wants to be everyone’s President, he should act like it.

In a related story also in the Times, Claire McCaskill shows the Democrats’ real hand when she introduced a government cap on executives’ pay. Using the language of the class warrior she defended the bill;

“We have a bunch of idiots on Wall Street that are kicking sand in the face of the American taxpayer,” the Missouri Democrat said on the Senate floor Friday, a day that also saw the top Republican senator on finance issues harshly criticize Wall Street pay.

Under Mrs. McCaskill’s proposal, employees of companies that receive money from the Treasury Department’s $700 billion Wall Street bailout fund, called the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) would not be able to make more than the U.S. president — $400,000 — until the company no longer relies on federal assistance.

The cap would include salary, bonuses and stock options. It also is common for top executives at Fortune 500 companies — the relevant talent pool — to make tens of millions in salary, with stock options and bonuses reaching the hundreds of millions.

Mrs. McCaskill said she was appalled that the average pay of executives of the first 116 banks that got TARP money was $2.6 million.

I’m appalled that US Senators make so much money and have so little accountability. We should roll back the Senate’s last few pay raises until this economic crisis, which Democrats are using an excuse to pass wildly Socialist legislation, ends. See. capping people’s pay is always popular unless they start talking about YOUR pay.

The whole condescending attitude of Congress and the Executive is beyond elitist. Americans deserve better. Nearly half of the country voted against Obama – he should take that into account when talking to us as if we’re children.

The Washington Times this morning quotes our new President who scolds us for arguing over the … Obama: America can’t afford to bicker over eating the s*** sandwichRead more

[5

post-7482","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-politics
["GET
