Now IMO, it’s kinda hard to get much farther left than the self-styled “Antifa” without joining the CPUSA.\u00a0 So I’ll take what they do as indicative of the true agenda of the far left.<\/p>\n
In Berkeley on Sunday, a peaceful protest by a group of conservatives was assaulted by a group of hooded, masked leftist thugs from the self-styled “Antifa” group.\u00a0 Five were injured.<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s a link to video of the event<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n During the melee, some of those masked leftist thugs were heard to shout:\u00a0 “Take his camera, take his phone” on seeing a journalist in the crowd.\u00a0 Decide for yourself why a bunch of masked leftist hoodlums might not want anyone taking photos or videos of what they were doing – and why they were wearing masks in the first place.<\/p>\n So where were the police, you might ask?\u00a0 Well, it seems that the police stood down instead of confronting those leftist hooligans \u2013 again.\u00a0 Berkeley\u2019s police chief claimed that was a \u201cstrategic decision\u201d made to \u201cavoid more violence\u201d.\u00a0 He said that there was \u201cno need for a confrontation over a grass patch.\u201d<\/p>\n Hmm.\u00a0 Sounds more to me like a police department that is simply afraid to do its damn job of keeping the peace \u2013 or was perhaps ordered not to.\u00a0\u00a0 In either case, IMO it amounted to de facto<\/em> local government support for Antifa’s unlawful mob violence.<\/p>\n But that\u2019s just me.\u00a0 YMMV.<\/p>\n Oh, did I mention that San Francisco\u2019s mayor has publicly sided with those leftist “Antifa” goons?\u00a0 Well, that’s what I\u2019d call it.\u00a0 He\u2019s been reported to have called this\u00a0 example of blatant intimidation through violent action a \u201cvictory\u201d over a group \u201cinviting hate\u201d \u2013 the latter referring to the peaceful conservative group protesting, not the leftist “Antifa” hoodlums that violently assaulted them.<\/p>\n Apparently for SF Mayor Ed Lee, free speech means “acts of mob violence committed against political enemies by those he supports, while local government stands by and does little or nothing to stop it”.\u00a0 You know, exactly the same thing some Jim Crow governments in the Deep South did during the Civil Rights Era<\/em>.<\/p>\n Ain’t that just ever so nostalgic and lovely?<\/p>\n
