Authorities say a man kicked down the door of a home on Spring Road just before noon on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Newton County Sheriff\u2019s Office said there was a fight and the homeowner fired several shots.<\/p>\n

Witnesses Robert Rodriguez and George Owen said they drove by and saw a man on the ground. <\/p>\n

“When I stopped, I was able to see the blood on his head,” Rodriguez said. <\/p>\n

“And then we see all the officers running around the house with their guns pulled,” Owen said. <\/p>\n

Deputies said the man who broke in was severely wounded. <\/p>\n

“When deputies came out, there was so much blood they were unable to ascertain whether he was shot or not,” Newton County sheriff’s Sgt. Cortney Morrison said. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Wind Gap, Pennsylvania<\/a>;<\/p>\n

Police were dispatched to the South Broadway home shortly before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to investigate a \u201cphysical altercation\u201d involving a gun. When officers arrived, they spotted three men running from the house. Authorities captured two of the men \u2013 [Zachary R] Feenstra and [Kyle A.J.] Dickey \u2013 between a nearby CVS and Dunkin Donuts after a short foot chase, according to court records.<\/p>\n

Authorities said their investigation found that the three men tried to force their way into the house by breaking a window and threatening to kill the people inside.<\/p>\n

A victim allegedly provided police with cell phone messages threatening to kill him. Police said they reviewed surveillance video that showed Feenstra and Dickey pushing and shoving the victims on the front porch and breaking the window.<\/p>\n

Police said someone inside the house flashed a gun, prompting the three men to run.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Fort Worth, Texas<\/a>;<\/p>\n

A 21-year-old man fatally shot Wednesday afternoon at a Fairmount home had been trying to rob the home\u2019s occupants when he was shot and killed, police officials said Thursday.<\/p>\n

Now, his alleged accomplice faces a felony murder charge, police say, even though he didn\u2019t fire a shot.<\/p>\n

[homicide Sgt. Joe] Loughman said the home\u2019s occupants \u2014 two brothers and one of their girlfriends \u2014 were friends of the suspects. He said one of the brothers and the woman were inside a locked bedroom when the suspects suddenly kicked the door open.<\/p>\n

The other brother, who had been in another room, rushed in to help, getting into a violent struggle with [Jose] Franco in which Franco fired his gun and [Quazian Deante] Walker repeatedly stunned him, Loughman said.<\/p>\n

As the struggle continued, the other brother grabbed a gun, shooting Franco in the upper torso and Walker in the foot, Loughman said.<\/p>\n

Franco was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:44 p.m.<\/p>\n

Police say Walker fled the home after the shooting and drove to a police station at 501 Jones Street. He was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital for treatment of his gunshot wound.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
