{"id":73058,"date":"2017-06-28T08:19:04","date_gmt":"2017-06-28T12:19:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=73058"},"modified":"2022-01-13T20:34:52","modified_gmt":"2022-01-14T01:34:52","slug":"falling-short-is-no-reason-for-remorse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=73058","title":{"rendered":"Falling short is no reason to lie."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/huQrvmrJbXk\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I often think of those with whom I have served. \u00a0Too many men, better than I, fell short of completing their tour. \u00a0Injured in training, a family hardship, disease, and so much more. \u00a0Through no fault of their own, they fell short of their mark and returned home to no applause. \u00a0 There are others of course, who made a bad choice and were sent out the gate with cause. \u00a0What becomes of those men who live with remorse and have to\u00a0go on about\u00a0their lives?<\/p>\n<p>Too often we find them reinventing past lives with badges and patches and pins&#8230;oh my. \u00a0 But there are great men, better than I, who fell short of the finish line. \u00a0Do they live with remorse of what went\u00a0awry, or do they stand up and hold their head high?<\/p>\n<p>To those who have served and think they fell short and never appear on our site, hold your head high you are a brother of mine, regardless of what you might think. \u00a0We should recognize those who fell short of their mark and silently live with remorse.<\/p>\n<p>There is no reason for that, \u00a0if they went on with life\u00a0and did\u00a0not embellish&#8230; Wikipedia<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Shortly after the September 11 attacks, Adam Driver joined the United States Marine Corps\u00a0and was assigned to Weapons Company, <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"1st Battalion 1st Marines\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1st_Battalion_1st_Marines\">1st Battalion, 1st Marines<\/a> as an <a title=\"M252 mortar\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/M252_mortar\">81mm mortar<\/a> man.\u00a0He served for two years and eight months with no deployments before breaking his sternum while mountain biking.\u00a0He was medically discharged before his unit deployed to Iraq for the <a title=\"Iraq War\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Iraq_War\">Iraq War<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Semper Fi<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I often think of those with whom I have served. \u00a0Too many men, better than I, &hellip;
