From Lafayette, Indiana<\/a>;<\/p>\n

Lafayette police said the intruders walked into a home in the neighborhood Sunday around 2 p.m. The homeowner then chased the invaders out with a gun.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat doesn\u2019t happen out here that much. Or well, it never did but it seems like it\u2019s going to now,\u201d said Edwin Grady.<\/p>\n

The intruders then hopped into their car, and the homeowner jumped into his and a rolling pursuit broke out.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was an exchange of gunfire,\u201d said Lt. Brian Gossard. \u201cWe did locate some evidence at the scene to indicate that rounds were discharged. We\u2019re just lucky no one was hurt or killed in this incident.\u201d<\/p>\n

The chase headed towards Shadeland, then looped back towards Lafayette.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe victim vehicle broke down around Shadeland then the suspect vehicle was later located on Veteran\u2019s Memorial, also disabled. It had blown a tire,\u201d said Gossard.<\/p>\n

The three men then ran away from police after their car broke down. Gossard said the invaders\u2019 car was stolen from Chicago.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuspects did get away for now,\u201d said Gossard. \u201cBut we\u2019re still doing some follow up.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Temple, Texas<\/a>;<\/p>\n

Matt Skelton said when he was getting ready for bed, he checked his security cameras one last time – that is when he saw someone in his ford expedition.<\/p>\n

At the time, without hesitation he said he grabbed his gun and ran outside to “get him to stop”. <\/p>\n

After Skelton’s neighbor came out to help hold him for police, Skeleton set off his house alarm to call police.<\/p>\n

Temple PD identified the suspect as 19-year-old Jaime Hernandez-Ortiz who remains in the Bell County Jail at this hour on $2,500 bond. <\/p>\n

Skelton, who retired from the Military said while he didn’t’t hesitate to confront the suspect, he’s glad it never escalated and he never had to defend himself. <\/p>\n

“You don’t wanna have to shoot a kid you know,” Skelton said. “and he wasn’t a kid, he was 19 so that didn’t matter.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Gresham, Illinois<\/a>;<\/p>\n

The 39-year-old man was in the 8300 block of South Elizabeth at 8:15 p.m. when he was approached by a 24-year-old man, according to Chicago Police.<\/p>\n

The younger man shot the older man in the abdomen, and the older man returned fire, striking the alleged robber twice in the legs and twice in the neck, police said.<\/p>\n

The younger man was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name has not yet been released by the Cook County medical examiner\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

The older man was also taken to Christ, where he was listed in serious condition, police said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Cypress, Texas<\/a>;<\/p>\n

When deputies arrived, they found a black man, identified as Derek Cooper with two gunshot wounds to his abdomen.<\/p>\n

Investigators learned that the person who shot Cooper was trying to sell him a cellphone he\u2019d advertised on Craigslist.<\/p>\n

The victim met with Cooper and a juvenile at that location for the exchange of the phone for money, when suddenly the juvenile pointed a handgun at the complainant and demanded all his money.<\/p>\n

The victim handed over the phone and money, and then the juvenile and Cooper demanded all he had in his vehicle.<\/p>\n

The man told investigators he went to his car, grabbed his own handgun and fired two rounds, hitting Cooper twice.<\/p>\n

The juvenile ran off, but was quickly caught by deputies, who were responding to the area.<\/p>\n

Derek Cooper was arrested, and charged with robbery, and is in the hospital and will be booked into the Harris County Jail upon his release, according to the Harris County Pct. 4 Constable\u2019s Office.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
