According to Sheriff Louis Ackal, the homeowner, a 60-year-old black woman, was sleeping on her couch with her pistol next to her when the two suspects broke into the rear of her home.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe two males approached her and she shot the first guy three times,\u201d Ackal said. \u201cOne suspect fired back but didn\u2019t hit her. She again shot and hit both of the burglars, who escaped into the night.\u201d<\/p>\n

When police arrived, one suspect was found lying on the ground nearby after being shot five times. IPSO K-9 officers are hoping to follow the blood trail of the second suspect, Ackal said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Escambia County, Alabama<\/a>;<\/p>\n

The homeowner told deputies with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) in Alabama the incident happened Monday around 2:30 p.m. at his home in the 3200 block of Foshee Road.<\/p>\n

The men were about to get away in a blue SUV when the homeowner got his single barrel shotgun and fired one shot in their direction.<\/p>\n

The driver was hit in the shoulder and along his cheek. He was later hospitalized.<\/p>\n

ECSO and the Brewton Police Department responded to the scene and later got in touch with the victim and the person at the hospital that was shot.<\/p>\n

As a result of the investigation, 24-year-old Atmore man, Mikeal Starks, is charged with first degree robbery and first degree burglary.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Indianapolis, Indiana<\/a>;<\/p>\n

Police in Indiana say a mother has shot and killed an intruder who was trying to break into her home.<\/p>\n

Indianapolis police confirmed the fatal shooting occurred in the 2800 block of White Knight Boulevard. That\u2019s near 30th Street and Mitthoeffer Road.<\/p>\n

The mother and her children are all fine, according to IMPD. All of the children are under the age of seven.<\/p>\n
