From Lynchburg, Virginia<\/a>;<\/p>\n

Police said they responded to a reported burglary in progress on Dearing Street on May 15 where the caller said someone was trying to rob their home and shots had been fired inside it.<\/p>\n

When officers got to the scene, they found one man lying in the yard and a second man lying in the doorway to the home.<\/p>\n

Police said both men were suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n

Both were taken to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries.<\/p>\n

Police said they were notified on Tuesday that Dedric Shyheim Megginson, 18, of Lynchbug had died from his injuries.<\/p>\n

Darrell Jermaine Saunders, 18, of Lynchburg was listed in serious, but stable condition.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In Pitt County, North Carolina<\/a>, sheriff deputies responded to a burglary call;<\/p>\n

Deputies were called to the break-in happening on Abbott Farm Road about 7:30 a.m. between Ayden and Winterville. The home is at the intersection of Abbott Farm Road and Jolly Road.<\/p>\n

Sheriff Neil Elks says a witness called authorities and when deputies arrived, the three burglars started to run.<\/p>\n

The sheriff says one of the burglars was armed and fought with a deputy as he was attempting an arrest. That deputy began yelling for backup, and when another deputy came to help, Elks says the suspect pointed the gun at that second deputy who then shot the suspect.<\/p>\n

The sheriff says the wounded man is expected to be okay and will be released from the hospital. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Las Vegas, Nevada<\/a>;<\/p>\n

Just before 5 a.m. Monday, Grajeda says Moncayo went back to the 7-Eleven on Lake Mead and Pecos.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe came back with one of his friends, and they say he started shooting up to the ceiling,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

It just so happened, an armed security guard was working in the convenience store.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the security guards went in and shot him (Moncayo) in the back,\u201d said Grajeda.<\/p>\n

Moncayo died, and now North Las Vegas Police investigators are trying to figure out if Moncayo\u2019s family\u2019s story lines up with the clerk\u2019s.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Kensington, Pennsylvania<\/a>;<\/p>\n

A Kensington homeowner shot a 47-year-old man who was breaking into his residence Tuesday afternoon, police said.<\/p>\n

Just before 1:20 p.m. in the 2000 block of Albright Street, the intruder was shot in the chest by the homeowner, who was not described further.<\/p>\n

The man was taken to Temple University Hospital and was reported in stabled condition. The homeowner’s gun was recovered by police.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Charlotte, North Carolina<\/a>;<\/p>\n

A family member said the man was in the shower when he heard voices of two to three strangers in his house. He thought they intended to rob him.<\/p>\n

His cellphone battery died so he grabbed his gun and fired at them, ran to a bedroom and fired one shot through this small closet window to escape.<\/p>\n

“He was actually freaking out,\u201d the neighbor said. \u201cHe didn’t know what else to do.”<\/p>\n

The call for help brought in a flurry of police activity in the neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Concerned loved ones rushed to check on him and his fianc\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

I asked police if the shots hit any of the suspects in the house.<\/p>\n

“There was not an overt indication of (anyone shot), but we are checking with area hospitals to see if anyone checks in there with gunshot wounds,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Capt. Ryan Butler said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
