From Blue Springs, Missouri<\/a>;<\/p>\n

Police say three young men broke into the home, ransacked it and stole two guns, including an AK-47 long rifle and a handgun. A get-away driver waited outside in a gold car, police say.<\/p>\n

According to neighbors, the man who lives next door heard a gunshot inside his neighbor’s house, so he grabbed his own gun and confronted the burglars.<\/p>\n

“‘Cause he saw two of the burglars running down the street this way so he was firing shots at them, ’cause he had heard a shot inside the house…. and then another one was running down the street this way,” said one neighbor.<\/p>\n

The neighbor says he saw one of the suspected burglars running down the street, looking behind him.<\/p>\n

“And I knew something was strange because he kept looking behind him,” he said. “And a guy started yelling, ‘Robbery! Robbery!’<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Three of the crooks were rounded up by the police, the fourth is still in the wind.<\/p>\n

From San Antonio, Texas<\/a>;<\/p>\n

Police say the man tried to get into the home through a window, but the armed homeowner met the alleged intruder and shot him.<\/p>\n

The alleged intruder died at a hospital. Police said the man left a 7-year-old in the car during the attempted break-in.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From Phoenix, Arizona<\/a>;<\/p>\n

[Cindy Bulk] hid in the bathroom.<\/p>\n

“Gun in my right hand, phone in my left. I was just leaning up against the wall as far back towards the shower as I could get,\u201d Bulk said.<\/p>\n

As soon as Lewis saw her, she said he just went into a screaming rage and came after her.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he just threw one punch after the other after the other with both hands. He was beating my head on the towel bar and then put me over backwards in the bathtub,\u201d Bulk said. \u201cI knew if he got me down in the bathtub it was over!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing really prepares you, unless you have military or law enforcement training, for shooting at a person,\u201d said Phoenix Police Sgt. Alan Pfohl.<\/p>\n

He says even gun enthusiasts usually only shoot when hunting or aiming at targets at the range.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause it\u2019s not normal to point a weapon at someone and potentially take their life. There’s always the trauma that somebody will deal with after the incident,\u201d Pfohl said.<\/p>\n

“I realized that this was a kid,\u201d Bulk said.<\/p>\n

She shot Lewis in the stomach.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Her attacker survived the gun shot, but she got rid of her gun when she got out of the hospital.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
