{"id":71950,"date":"2017-05-09T12:25:23","date_gmt":"2017-05-09T16:25:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=71950"},"modified":"2017-05-09T17:50:25","modified_gmt":"2017-05-09T21:50:25","slug":"aclu-issues-texas-travel-advisory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=71950","title":{"rendered":"ACLU Issues Texas \u2018Travel Advisory&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclu.org\/news\/aclu-issues-texas-travel-advisory\">American Civil Liberties Union<\/a> has issued a &#8220;travel advisory&#8221; for folks who traveling through Texas because of Texas&#8217; new law SB4;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The law gives a green light to police officers in the state to investigate a person\u2019s immigration status during a routine traffic stop, leading to widespread racial profiling, baseless scrutiny, and illegal arrests of citizens and non-citizens alike presumed to be \u201cforeign\u201d based on how they look or sound. The travel alert applies to all travelers to Texas, including U.S. travelers from other states and U.S. citizens. In addition, this alert applies to all encounters with federal, state, county law enforcement including local police and sheriffs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ACLU\u2019s goal is to protect all Texans and all people traveling through Texas \u2014 regardless of their immigration status \u2014 from illegal harassment by law enforcement,\u201d said Lorella Praeli, ACLU director of immigration policy and campaigns.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So, it looks like the only people will be targets of this so-called harassment will be illegal aliens. Isn&#8217;t the ACLU playing into the hands of the evil Texan governor? <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/TX\/text\/SB4\/2017\">The text of the law<\/a> specifically prohibits discrimination;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Sec. 752.054.  DISCRIMINATION PROHIBITED. A local entity,<br \/>\n  \tcampus police department, or a person employed by or otherwise<br \/>\n  \tunder the direction or control of the entity or department may not<br \/>\n  \tconsider race, color, religion, language, or national origin while<br \/>\n  \tenforcing immigration laws except to the extent permitted by the<br \/>\n  \tUnited States Constitution or Texas Constitution.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yeah, that&#8217;s not what the ACLU opposes &#8211; what they don&#8217;t like is Section 752.053 &#8211; the part that prohibits sanctuary cities and counties.
