It looks like our \u201cfavorite\u201d Frank Zappa\/Leon Trotsky wannabe lookalike is getting the attention he apparently craves.\u00a0 But as is often the case, perhaps he should have heeded the old proverb:\u00a0 \u201cBe careful what you wish, you just might get it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Drexel professor and self-proclaimed\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 leftist idiot<\/del>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cactual communist\u201d<\/a><\/em> George Ciccariello-Maher is in the news again.\u00a0 In case anyone\u2019s forgotten, this is the \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0moronic jerk<\/del>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 tool made famous by his \u201cwhite genocide\u201d and \u201cwant to vomit\u201d Tweets over the past few months.\u00a0 Jonn\u2019s written about him before<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Well, it seems as if Drexel University caught a bit of heat over the \u201cfine professor\u2019s\u201d commentary \u2013 which apparently also includes a Tweet where he urges people to \u201coff the pigs\u201d.\u00a0 At least two prominent Drexel donors have withheld promised donations to Drexel, apparently due to Ciccarielo-Maher\u2019s commentary.\u00a0 Numerous other prospective students have recently apparently told Drexel, \u201cUm, thanks . . . but no thanks\u201d as well due to the guy\u2019s idiocy – and have elected to go to school elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, it also appears that Drexel\u2019s leadership may be \u201cgetting the message\u201d.\u00a0 Cigarillo-Moron<\/del>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ciccariello-Maher reputedly received an email earlier this month (3 April) from Drexel\u2019s Provost<\/a><\/em> expressing concern regarding his “extremely damaging conduct.”\u00a0 The email also advised him that “a special committee of inquiry\u201d had been formed \u201cto investigate your conduct and provide findings and recommendations.”<\/p>\n

Yeah, the professor had the right to speak his mind.\u00a0 But unlike Ivory tower academia or some mythical Progressive Utopia, in the real world actions have consequences.\u00a0 And Drexel is a private<\/span> university \u2013 so they have the right to fire someone who\u2019s costing them money without worrying about Free Speech or civil service issues.\u00a0 I\u2019d personally be overjoyed if the Drexel leadership decided to let this tool go ASAP.<\/p>\n

Yo, \u201cprofessor\u201d:\u00a0 free speech doesn\u2019t equate to \u201czero consequences for anything you say\u201d, dipstick.\u00a0 It only means the government<\/u> can\u2019t regulate what you have to say.\u00a0 Employers outside the government can and often do take note of what you say \u2013 and sometimes take action when your<\/span> public words hurt their<\/span> reputation.<\/p>\n

A private employer can fire your stank-ass if what you say costs them mucho dinero<\/em> or damages their reputation; I\u2019m thinking you might be about to find that out fairly soon.\u00a0 And even government agencies can discipline employees who violate internal policies relating to offensive speech.<\/p>\n

But I\u2019ll say this about free speech: \u00a0as you\u2019ve proven here, free speech certainly does make it easier for idiots to identify themselves to the rest of the world.\u00a0 (smile)<\/p>\n
