According to the statement, Bettendorf repeatedly rang the doorbell of a house on the 1300 block of East Blaine Street at about 4 a.m.<\/p>\n

The homeowner didn’t recognize Bettendorf and didn’t open the door, the statement said, so Bettendorf went around the house and tried to pry off a window screen by the kitchen.<\/p>\n

When Bettendorf came back around and tried to get inside the home through the front bedroom window, the homeowner grabbed a two-by-four piece of wood, the statement said.<\/p>\n

Bettendorf was halfway through the window when the homeowner yelled and hit him with the piece of wood, the statement said.<\/p>\n

Bettendorf fled, the statement said, though the homeowner caught up to him in a neighbor’s yard and punched Bettendorf in the face until he passed out.<\/p>\n

Police arrived and arrested Bettendorf after he regained consciousness, the statement said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
