{"id":69422,"date":"2016-12-16T11:33:38","date_gmt":"2016-12-16T16:33:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=69422"},"modified":"2016-12-16T11:33:38","modified_gmt":"2016-12-16T16:33:38","slug":"attempts-to-hack-gop-failed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=69422","title":{"rendered":"Attempts to hack GOP failed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/republican-national-committee-security-foiled-russian-hackers-1481850043\">Wall Street Journal<\/a>, spam filters stopped hack attempts into the RNC&#8217;s emails;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Russian hackers tried to penetrate the computer networks of the Republican National Committee, using the same techniques that allowed them to infiltrate its Democratic counterpart, according to U.S. officials who have been briefed on the attempted intrusion.<\/p>\n<p>But the intruders failed to get past security defenses on the RNC\u2019s computer networks, the officials said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Imagine that, basic security training worked. The same security I use when I get stuff in my email that I don&#8217;t trust. <\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/russia-hacking-republican-party-may-have-failed-2016-12?op=1\">Business Insider<\/a>;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Messages sent to that address were quarantined by email filters traditionally designed to stop spam and potentially malicious emails, the experts said. GOP officials apparently had no idea hackers tried to breach their systems until June, after Democratic Party leaders announced that they were hacked, according to another unnamed source cited by The Journal. <\/p>\n<p>The report said Republican leaders suspected they too may have been targeted and brought in a cybersecurity firm to investigate. The FBI later got involved, the newspaper said.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier this week, the Washington Post and the New York Times tried say that RNC&#8217;s emails weren&#8217;t released by WikiLeaks because of hackers&#8217; partisan intentions, but it seems that folks at the GOP were just better at cybersecurity than the Democrats.
