There\u2019s an old bit of advice that most ladies hear in one form or another when they\u2019re young:\u00a0 \u201cno nudie pix\u201d.\u00a0 IMO, that\u2019s good advice; once they\u2019re taken, there\u2019s no telling where they\u2019ll end up.<\/p>\n
Well, guys \u2013 it\u2019s not just good advice for the ladies.\u00a0 Ever heard of the term \u201csextortion\u201d?<\/p>\n
Yeah, it means pretty much what it sounds like it means:\u00a0 someone gets their hands on explicit photos or videos of a person, then shakes them down for money.\u00a0 It\u2019s a real thing.<\/p>\n
Further:\u00a0 it seems that some of the practitioners of that particular scam are apparently now frequenting certain \u201cdating\u201d sites.\u00a0 And it also seems that some of them are now targeting people in uniform<\/a><\/em> and\/or those who work for the government as civilians.<\/p>\n Word has gotten out that many government agencies – and the military in particular – take more of an interest in such conduct than most non-governmental employers.\u00a0 That\u2019s particularly true of anyone in working in a government position who has access to sensitive or classified info.\u00a0 The reason should be pretty obvious:\u00a0 people in government jobs who have access to sensitive or classified info just might be susceptible to blackmail by those looking to get their hands on said info.<\/p>\n Remember, guys and gals:\u00a0 once you\u2019ve taken a picture it exists.\u00a0 Once you\u2019ve sent it to someone, you no longer control what happens to it.\u00a0 Hell, even if you have it \u201csafely stored\u201d somewhere . . . well, things sometimes get lost or stolen.<\/p>\n In other words:\u00a0 if you wouldn’t want your mother\/wife\/kids to see it on the front page of the local newspaper or on the Internet, maybe think twice about taking the picture or video.\u00a0 Because it just might end up there one day.<\/p>\n As the fictional police Sergeant Phil Esterhaus put it years ago:\u00a0 \u201cHey \u2013 be careful out there.\u201d\u00a0 The Internet ain\u2019t Disneyland.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
