{"id":69194,"date":"2016-12-01T12:57:39","date_gmt":"2016-12-01T17:57:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=69194"},"modified":"2016-12-01T12:57:56","modified_gmt":"2016-12-01T17:57:56","slug":"wisconsin-va-dentist-may-have-infected-hundreds-of-vets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=69194","title":{"rendered":"Wisconsin VA dentist may have infected hundreds of vets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A dentist who worked for the Veterans&#8217; Affairs Department in Tomah, Wisconsin, used unsanitary practices which COULD have resulted in the infecion of hundreds of veterans according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weau.com\/content\/news\/Tomah-VA-Veterans-could-have-been-infected-with-Hepatitis-HIV-403632336.html\">WEAU<\/a>;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Tomah VA says it&#8217;s in the process of notifying 592 veterans that they may be infected with Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or HIV after they received care from one particular dental provider.<\/p>\n<p>Acting Medical Center Director Victoria Brahm said the dentist was using his own equipment, then cleaning it and reusing it, which violates the VA&#8217;s regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The Tomah VA says it uses sterile and disposable equipment.<\/p>\n<p>The VA says he did this for one year, from October 2015 through October 2016.<\/p>\n<p>It came to light when someone filling in for his assistant noticed what was going on and reported it.<\/p>\n<p>That dentist has been removed from patient care and is now working in an administrative role. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Well, at least he isn&#8217;t on unemployment or something. That would be horrible. The VA says that they have called about 50 veterans directly and they&#8217;re mailing the others.
