{"id":69106,"date":"2016-11-24T08:43:39","date_gmt":"2016-11-24T13:43:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=69106"},"modified":"2016-11-24T08:54:16","modified_gmt":"2016-11-24T13:54:16","slug":"sailors-pii-breached","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.azuse.cloud\/?p=69106","title":{"rendered":"Sailors&#8217; PII breached"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/tech\/2016\/11\/23\/personal-data-for-more-than-130000-sailors-breached-navy-announces.html\">Fox News<\/a> reports that the Navy says that they lost the personally identifiable information (PII) of 134,386 current and former Sailors that was accessed by unknown individuals;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Navy was notified in October by Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services that one of the company&#8217;s laptops operated by their employee supporting a Navy contract was &#8220;compromised,&#8221; the service said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>The Navy said it will notify those affected Sailors in the coming weeks by multiple means including phone, letter and email.<\/p>\n<p>For those affected by the breach, the Navy said it is working to provide further details on what happened, and is reviewing credit monitoring service options for affected sailors.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Like I&#8217;ve said before, if the government has any of your PII, you need to have a permanent way to monitor the use of your information.
